As a start to our plans to survey Pontesford Hill for the presence of dormice Kate Thorn, a Shropshire ecologist with many years experience, will be leading us in a nut hunt.

We will search the area around Lower Camp hillfort for nuts that have been nibbled by birds or mammals in an effort to discover if there are dormice using the area. Even if the results are negative this will still help us to direct further surveys later in the year.

If there is time following the search Kate will tell us a little more about dormouse signs and will also talk about signs to look out for to indicate the presence of bats in the trees and woodland.

If you are interested in getting involved in this exciting project please contact me in advance if you can but feel free to turn up on the day if you can’t
